Description

About Murdoch Webster

For almost 20 years, Murdoch Webster has helped Australian organisations protect what matters most. We design, deliver and support modern network, infrastructure and cybersecurity solutions across education, commercial, government and mid-market clients.

We’re a growing business with a senior engineering team and none of the bureaucracy of larger consultancies. You’ll work directly with clients, influence technical decisions and see the impact of your work every day.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, intermediate-to-senior role combining project delivery and day-to-day managed services support. You’ll design and implement network and security solutions, resolve escalations and work closely with customers to deliver practical outcomes. It suits someone who enjoys variety and is just as happy solving a tricky support issue as delivering a new project.

You don’t need to tick every box below. If you’re operating at around CCNP / PCNSE level, or a bit under it with the ambition to get there, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, deliver and support Cisco networking and infrastructure solutions.
  • Implement and support Palo Alto firewalls and endpoint security such as Microsoft Defender, Coretex XDR, Rapid 7.
  • Resolve managed services tickets and provide technical escalation.
  • Deliver project work from planning through implementation, documentation and handover.
  • Support technical discovery and solution design with customers and our sales team.
  • Help improve our managed services standards and processes.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Solid hands-on networking and cybersecurity experience (around CCNP / PCNSE level, or approaching it).
  • Strong Cisco networking skills across routing, switching and security.
  • Experience with Palo Alto (or comparable next-generation firewalls).
  • Strong troubleshooting and clear customer communication.
  • Comfortable balancing project delivery with day-to-day support.
  • Current rights to work in Australia and willingness to complete a standard police check.

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to Microsoft Defender, Cortex XDR or similar endpoint security.
  • Cloud (Azure / Microsoft 365) experience.
  • Managed services or MSP background.
  • Relevant certifications (CCNA/CCNP, PCNSA/PCNSE) – valued, but not mandatory.

Career Opportunities

As Murdoch Webster grows, this role grows with you. Depending on your interests, you could develop into a senior consulting role leading larger client engagements, or help build and eventually lead our managed services practice.

We value initiative and create opportunities for people who want to grow their technical or leadership skills, with funded certifications and vendor training along the way.

Why Join Us?

  • Varied project work across networking, cloud and cybersecurity.
  • A collaborative, experienced engineering team you’ll learn from.
  • Funded certifications and vendor training.
  • Real influence in a growing business, with less bureaucracy and more opportunity.
  • Hybrid working based in Melbourne.

How to Apply

Send us your CV and a short note covering why you’re interested and one network or security project you delivered end to end.

Applicants must have current Australian working rights and be based in Melbourne. No overseas applications and no recruiters, please.
