About the role

We are looking for a Senior Mining Engineer, or an experienced Mining Engineer ready to take the next step, to join our open cut team. You will be someone who enjoys FIFO, values time on site and is eager to broaden your expertise across different commodities.

You will work across a variety of projects and commodities, from greenfield developments to established Tier 1 mine sites. Our project pipeline offers fresh technical challenges and the chance to build experience beyond a single operation.

There is also potential to contribute to international projects, including in South America. You will be supported by an in-house team of experienced mining engineers who are keen to share their expertise and contribute to your career growth.

What Your First Year Could Look Like

• Project 1 (4 months): Contribute to Life of mine planning for a greenfield QLD copper mine.
• Project 2 (3 months): Provide Drill and Blast support to a large surface coal operation in NSW.
• Project 3 (2 months): Develop short-term plans and optimise haulage costs for a Tier 1 QLD coal operator.
• Project 4 (3 months): Work across mine planning and production teams to successfully restart a QLD gold mine.

Want to rotate through lots of short projects, or would you prefer 6-12 month deep dives? We’ll do our best to work with your preference.

What we are looking for

• 6+ years’ site-based experience in open pit mining.
• Degree in Mining Engineering (recognised in Australia).
• Exposure to different open pit mining methods and approaches.
• Experience with Spry and Deswik (preferred).
• Current unrestricted working rights in Australia.
• Demonstrated expertise in 2 of the following areas: Drill & blast design and optimization, Mine design (layouts, development, infrastructure), Production scheduling and planning.
