The Role

The Reconnect Youth & Family Worker provides a holistic, early-intervention service that addresses immediate housing needs while supporting positive, long-term outcomes for young people and their families. The role focuses on strengthening family relationships, promoting reconnection, and improving engagement with education, training, and employment.

Through coordinated, practical, and family-centred support, the position helps create sustainable pathways that enable young people to overcome homelessness and thrive within their families and communities. This comprehensive approach strengthens family bonds, builds resilience, and reduces the risk of future homelessness and disengagement from education.

About You / Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant qualifications in Youth Work, Community Welfare, or a related field, with experience in client-facing service delivery
  • Demonstrated experience in case management, outreach support, and building positive relationships with young people and their families
  • Sound knowledge of issues impacting young people, including youth homelessness, disengagement from education, alcohol and other drug misuse, and cultural disconnection
  • The ability to engage therapeutically with clients across diverse intellectual abilities, motivation levels, health needs, and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Proven capacity to proactively build relationships with key stakeholders and strengthen community networks
