Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to provide assistance and support to individuals with disabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping clients with daily living activities, providing emotional support, transportation, and promoting independence and community integration.
Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Provide emotional support and companionship to clients
- Help clients with mobility and transportation needs
- Administer medication and monitor health conditions
- Assist with meal preparation and household tasks
- Develop and implement individualized care plans
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure the best possible care for clients
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Must have experience with aggressive behaviors and Usher Syndrome
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Job is only open to Male Support Workers
- Certification in disability support (Cert III & Cert IV or above)
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Strong communication, report writing and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Compassionate and patient demeanor
- Ability to handle challenging behaviors and situations
- Knowledge of disability rights and advocacy
- Ability to write incident and progress reports
