Role Summary:
The (Senior) Manager, Architecture is responsible for overseeing and guiding architectural design within various projects based in Perth. This role involves close collaboration with other departments, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects meet requirements and maintain high standards of quality and progress.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Feasibility:
- Prepare detailed design and development briefs.
- Consolidate site parameters according to local authority guidelines.
- Conduct SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) for project sites.
- Research and reference relevant projects for guidance.
Project Initiation:
- Collaborate with the procurement team on consultant engagement, including scopes of work, work matrices, staging, and deliverables.
- Perform background checks and recommend design consultants.
- Generate design timelines in collaboration with the project team.
- Prepare inter-office memos for design consultant engagements.
- Design Development (Concept to Detailed Design):
- Lead consultant coordination, ensuring quality, timeline adherence, and deliverables.
- Monitor authority submissions and ensure compliance with codes of practice.
- Coordinate with internal departments to align project goals.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations on design progress for stakeholders.
- Review and assess design quality, providing necessary input to consultants.
- Coordinate deliverables with consultants to fit the tender structure.
Project Implementation:
- Assist in managing the site team in the project manager’s absence.
- Conduct on-site design inspections and provide design solutions.
- Supervise construction works, ensuring compliance with contracts, specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
- Verify that all materials delivered to the site meet approved specifications and the inspection test plan.
- Identify and ensure the timely completion of remedial and outstanding works by contractors.
- Regularly coordinate with relevant departments regarding work progress, addressing issues related to defects, non-conformance, or delays.
- Maintain all relevant forms, documents, correspondence, and records related to work progress.
Job Requirements:
- Education:
- Degree in Architecture or equivalent.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the Real Estate or Hospitality industry.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in architectural conceptual design, detailing, and use of materials.
- Strong project design development and project management skills.
- Competence in design presentation.
- Proficiency in Autodesk (AutoCAD), Adobe (Photoshop), Google Sketchup, and hand-sketching.
Soft Skills:
- Effective team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Possesses initiative and drive.
- Key Activities:
- Design / Development Brief Preparation:
- Create comprehensive briefs outlining project design and development requirements.
- Area Schedule Preparation:
- Develop detailed area schedules to ensure alignment with design briefs.
- Consolidating Site Parameters:
- Ensure project site parameters comply with local authority regulations.
- Identifying & Analyzing Site Strengths:
- Conduct SWOT analysis for project sites to guide design and development.
- Research & Study Relevant Projects:
- Study and reference similar projects to inform design decisions.
- Consultant Engagement:
- Work with procurement to engage consultants, defining scopes, deliverables, and timelines.
Design Timeline Generation:
- Collaborate with the project team to create and manage design timelines.
- Consultant Coordination:
- Lead coordination with consultants to ensure quality and timely delivery of design outputs.
Design Inspection:
- Assist in on-site design inspections, ensuring adherence to project requirements.
- Supervision and Monitoring:
- Oversee construction works, ensuring compliance with specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
Material Inspection:
Verify that materials delivered to the site meet approved specifications and plans.
Issue Resolution:
- Identify and resolve issues related to defective, outstanding, or delayed works through regular coordination with relevant departments.
