About the opportunity

We are seeking a talented and experienced Commercial Real Estate Lawyer with 3-6 years post-admission experience to join our Real Estate practice on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with Partners Bianca McGoldrick, Lance Hilton-Barber and Fabrice Lincoln and their team who bring broad industry knowledge and experience across the legal and regulatory frameworks. Our team provides legal advice on large-scale property transactions, including buying, selling and leasing of industrial, office and retail developments for a diverse range of clients. They are also responsible for providing advice on legislative issues for clients from local government, retirement villages, owner and operators and developers.

In this role you will work closely with clients, advising on matters from all stages of the property transaction lifecycle. About you

Our ideal candidate will have the following attributes:          

  • 3-6 years post-admission experience
  • Very strong and demonstrated knowledge of Western Australian property law including in the following areas:
      • due diligence;
      • preparation and negotiation of contracts to buy and sell tenanted or vacant, commercial, hospitality, industrial, retail or rural property;
      • undertaking settlements, including on PEXA;
      • preparation of off the plan strata contracts;
      • advising on, preparing and reviewing commercial, industrial and retail leasing (both landlord and tenant perspectives); 
      • land development, particularly subdivision; 
      • drafting easements and restrictive covenants;
      • retirement villages; and,
      • urban renewal projects.
  • Communication skills including confidence in public speaking (both with clients and other lawyers).
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience supporting clients impacted by property law legislative changes (desirable).
  • Confidence to act in a client-facing role.
  • Understanding and knowledge in the use of various IT systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High legal standards, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A client and solutions focus, with commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience.
  • Motivation to contribute to the continued growth and success of our team.
