Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Fitter/Machinist to join our growing team in a well-established local business. The successful candidate will carry out fitting, machining and maintenance activities to a high standard of workmanship and safety. The role contributes to the efficient operation of workshop and site activities through the manufacture, repair, assembly and maintenance of engineering components and equipment.

The position requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork and customer service while ensuring work is completed efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate manual workshop machinery including lathes, mills, drills and associated tooling
  • Manufacture, repair and modify components to required specifications and tolerances
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical instructions
  • Perform fitting, assembly and installation of mechanical components and equipment
  • Conduct breakdown repairs and maintenance work on machinery and equipment
  • Inspect components for accuracy, quality and functionality
  • Measure and verify completed work using precision measuring equipment
  • Assist with fault finding and diagnosis of mechanical issues
  • Operate CNC machinery and equipment where required and assist with CNC setup and production activities

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Trade qualification as a Fitter and Machinist or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience operating CNC machinery and equipment
  • Demonstrated experience in fitting and machining environments
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience operating workshop machinery and equipment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and maintenance practices
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team

Desirable

  • Forklift licence
  • Dogging, rigging or other relevant tickets
  • CNC programming or advanced CNC machining experience
  • Experience in industrial maintenance environments
  • First Aid certificate
