Description
At Human Nature Landscapes, we take pride in delivering top-tier landscape solutions. We are launching a brand-new softscape and commercial maintenance arm in response to industry demand.
With the business expanding, we are seeking a skilled Team Leader to take ownership of site operations and grow with the role as it expands into a full-time position.
The Opportunity: Start Flexible, Build Fast
This is a rare ground-floor opportunity. We are offering an initial permanent part-time schedule of ~10 hours per week, and we expect hours to grow to full-time within 3–6 months as maintenance contracts are onboarded.
Whether you’re looking to transition out of running your own business, looking for lifestyle flexibility, or want to get in early on a high-growth division, this role lets you hit the ground running without jumping straight into 38+ hours on week one.
The Role
This is an active, on-site role where you will lead a small crew (1–2 staff) across two core areas:
- Softscape Projects: Managing softscape demolition and executing quality softscape installations (turfing, planting, mulching, irrigation setup) on major sites.
- Maintenance Operations: Delivering scheduled landscape maintenance programs across key commercial spaces and post-build landscape handovers.
You’ll be leading from the front on site, combining site management and team mentorship with direct, practical involvement in the work.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading daily site operations, delegating tasks, and working alongside your crew.
- Executing softscape installations and commercial maintenance contracts to high standards.
- Towing and manoeuvring large work trailers loaded with equipment and materials.
- Operating, servicing, and maintaining commercial landscape tools and equipment.
- Engaging professionally with commercial clients and using your initiative to identify potential growth opportunities.
- Collaborating with management to refine maintenance schedules, routes, and site workflows as hours expand.
What We Are Looking For
- Practical Leadership: Proven leadership skills with a focus on working efficiently alongside your crew.
- Licences & Checks: Manual Driver’s Licence, White Card, QLD Blue Card (Working with Children), valid Australian work rights, and ability to clear a Police Check (all mandatory).
- Technical Background: Trade qualification (e.g. Cert III in Landscape Construction, Horticulture, or Parks & Gardens preferred) or equivalent practical experience in softscapes and maintenance.
- Towing Capability: Confident towing, backing, and manoeuvring large work trailers.
- Proactive Mindset: Self-motivated, attentive to detail, and excited by the prospect of helping build a division from ~10 hrs/week to full-time.
- Physical Requirements: An ability to safely lift and move materials up to 20 kg, perform sustained outdoor manual labour across full working days, and safely operate power tools and equipment on varying site terrain. Reasonable adjustments will be considered on a case-by-case basis in line with the inherent requirements of the role.
What We Offer
- Flexible Growth: Start at ~10 hours per week with a clear pathway to full-time hours within 3–6 months.
- Tools and Vehicle: A full suite of maintenance tools and equipment, a work vehicle, fuel card and access to a custom-built trailer with tipper functionality.
- Shape Your Role: Direct input into operational systems, equipment setups, and team processes from day one.
- Great Culture: A small, locally owned and operated, independent business prioritising transparency, quality and safety.
- Wage Review: Pay reflecting your experience and leadership capability, reviewed upon transition to full-time.
