Description
Home Delivery Service (HDS) – Acacia Ridge Depot, Brisbane QLD
Brand New Facility | Casual Roles with genuine pathway to Full-Time
HDS has just completed construction of our brand-new Acacia Ridge depot and we’re building the team that will launch and run it. We have multiple Pick Packer positions available across our ambient, chiller, thawback, and confectionary/security operations, and we’re looking for motivated, hard-working people who want to get in on the ground floor of a major new facility.
These are casual positions to begin with, and we’re committed to offering genuine pathways to full-time employment as the depot stabilises and the operation grows. We’re ideally looking for people who can commit to approximately 5 days per week, with shift availability varying week to week based on operational requirements as the new depot goes live.
The Environments:
Ambient (approx. 15°C to 25°C) – picking and packing customer orders across a range of case and carton sizes in a room-temperature warehouse environment. Operators will use an LLOP (Low Level Order Picker) to move between locations and build orders. This is the most physically demanding stream, involving consistent heavy lifting across a full shift.
Confectionary / Security (Tobacco) (approx. 15°C to 25°C) – picking high-value, tightly controlled stock including confectionary and tobacco products within a security-controlled area. Physically the lightest of the four streams, but the most exacting in terms of accuracy, compliance, and trust.
Chiller (approx. 0°C to 5°C) – picking short-shelf-life, high-turnover product in a temperature-controlled chilled environment. Think milk, sandwiches, sushi, doughnuts, and similar ready-to-go food items – the kind of product that needs to be picked accurately and dispatched quickly. Accuracy and sustained pace are essential here – chiller orders have a very low tolerance for pick errors.
Thawback (approx. 0°C to 5°C) – picking and processing stock that originated in freezer storage as part of the thawback process. Frozen cartons are moved out of the freezer into the chiller area, where Thawback operators pick and handle the stock as it thaws. You do not work inside the freezer itself – but you do work in a chilled environment throughout your shift. Careful, correct stock rotation and consistent pace are essential to keep thaw schedules on track.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pick and pack customer orders accurately and efficiently to daily productivity targets
- Use RF scanning and WMS systems to process and confirm orders accurately
- Ensure all orders meet quality and accuracy standards prior to dispatch
- Work collaboratively as part of a close-knit team to support the launch and smooth running of a brand-new operation
- Adhere to all WHS requirements and maintain a clean and safe work area at all times
You’ll Bring:
- Previous warehouse pick/pack experience – 3PL or distribution centre background highly regarded
- The physical capacity to perform consistent, repetitive manual handling across a full shift – particularly important for the Ambient stream
- Experience operating an LLOP (Low Level Order Picker) or confidence picking up the skillset quickly – required for the Ambient stream
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional accuracy – essential across all streams, and particularly critical in the Chiller and Confectionary/Security areas
- Willingness to work in a chilled environment (approx. 0°C to 5°C) – required for both the Chiller and Thawback streams; Thawback operators handle stock coming out of the freezer but work in the chiller area, not inside the freezer
- Integrity and trustworthiness – candidates for the Confectionary/Security stream must be comfortable with security screening and working within a monitored area
- Confident use of RF scanning and WMS systems – or a demonstrated ability to pick these up quickly
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong commitment to safety – particularly important in a start-up environment where every team member counts
