About the Role
We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join our team. Within this role you will be responsible for the reliability, scalability, security, and performance of HAMBS technology platforms and applications, working under broad direction and taking accountability for significant outcomes from analysis and design through to implementation, operation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and continual improvement of highly available, scalable, and resilient infrastructure and application platforms.
- Define and implement reliability engineering practices, standards, monitoring frameworks, and operational procedures.
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support reliable, repeatable, and low-risk deployments
- Analyse system, infrastructure, and application metrics to identify trends, performance bottlenecks, and opportunities for optimisation.
- Lead root cause analysis activities for major incidents and drive preventative actions to minimise recurrence.
- Design and implement automation solutions to improve operational efficiency, service reliability, and deployment consistency
- Lead the infrastructure and operational delivery components of technology projects.
- Provide specialist expertise for complex infrastructure, cloud, and systems integration initiatives.
- Evaluate technical solutions and recommend improvements to project outcomes.
- Coordinate implementation activities and ensure operational readiness of new solutions.
- Provide expert-level support and consultation to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure incidents, service requests, changes, and problem management activities are managed in accordance with HAMBS Service Management processes
- Champion Agile, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, and Platform Engineering practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, operational efficiency, and service delivery outcomes
About You
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or similar technical roles.
- Proficiency in a general-purpose scripting/programming language (e.g., Python, Bash, Go) in addition to PowerShell.
- Advanced knowledge of linux system administration.
- Advanced experience managing enterprise infrastructure platforms and cloud services.
- Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation technologies including Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals – load balancing, DNS, firewalls, and network security.
- Experience operating and supporting containerised platforms and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes
