Description
Create Connections. Celebrate Cultures. Make Every Day Meaningful.
For more than 40 years, FOCUS Connect has been connecting communities and helping people build meaningful lives through connection, inclusion and belonging.
We’re passionate about creating opportunities for older people to stay connected, celebrate their culture, make new friends and continue doing the things that matter most to them. Every Social Group we deliver is designed to create genuine friendships, strengthen wellbeing and help people live life their way.
We’re looking for an energetic, organised and people-focused Social Inclusion & Wellbeing Lead to help deliver and grow our flagship Social Groups.
If you’re someone who loves bringing people together, enjoys working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, and wants to make a genuine difference every day, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
As the Social Inclusion & Wellbeing Lead, you will play a hands-on role in creating great experiences and meaningful outcomes for our existing participants, while also growing participation and connecting more older people with our Social Groups.
You’ll spend time with participants understanding what matters to them and helping create engaging groups, activities and community outings that promote friendship, wellbeing, independence and belonging.
You’ll also be out in the community promoting our Social Groups, building referral networks and developing relationships that create opportunities for more older people to participate.
This community-based role brings together participant engagement, program delivery, community engagement and marketing, with a shared focus on delivering great participant outcomes and growing participation.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build strong relationships with participants, families and carers, understanding what matters to each person and supporting meaningful participation.
- Coordinate and deliver engaging Social Groups, activities and community outings that promote wellbeing, independence, friendship and belonging.
- Adapt and develop programs in response to participants’ needs, goals, interests and feedback.
- Create welcoming and inclusive experiences where people from diverse backgrounds feel connected, respected and that they belong.
- Actively promote Social Groups and identify opportunities to connect new participants with our programs.
- Build strong referral networks with community organisations, aged care providers, health professionals and local partners.
- Get out into the community, develop relationships and create opportunities to grow participation and achieve agreed targets.
- Gather participant feedback and use insights to continually improve experiences, outcomes and our Social Groups.
- Bring new ideas and creativity to the development and growth of our programs.
- Coordinate and support facilitators, drivers and volunteers.
- Assist with rostering and day-to-day program operations.
- Contribute to a positive, values-driven culture of teamwork, creativity and inclusion.
About You
You’re someone who genuinely enjoys bringing people together and is inspired by our vision, ‘A future where every person belongs and thrives.’
You’re just as comfortable spending time with participants and understanding what matters to them as you are getting out into the community, starting conversations and building new relationships.
You build relationships easily, enjoy turning ideas into engaging experiences and take pride in seeing people build friendships, confidence and connection. You’re also motivated by creating opportunities for more older people to discover and participate in our Social Groups.
Most importantly, you share our commitment to Connection, Inclusion and Creativity and creating welcoming experiences where every participant feels respected, included and that they belong.
To be successful, you’ll bring:
- Experience coordinating activities, programs or events in aged care, community services or a similar environment.
- Strong participant engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Experience in community engagement, marketing, business development or building referral networks.
- Confidence promoting programs, developing community connections and identifying opportunities to grow participation.
- A passion for creating engaging experiences that promote wellbeing, inclusion and independence.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with participants, families, volunteers and community partners.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Current Driver Licence (essential).
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
- National Criminal History Check.
We warmly encourage applications from people who are bilingual or multilingual. We also welcome applicants who are passionate about celebrating different cultures and creating welcoming, inclusive environments where everyone feels respected and that they belong.
