ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Managing Director and working as part of the Leadership team, this role is designed to provide complex clinical support, team support and leadership to the Allied Health Assistant team. There is a requirement to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure optimal outcomes for clients of the service.

The Jump Up For Kids Clinical Lead will:

• provide leadership that facilitates the ongoing development of clinical practice, particularly in the area of integration and supervision of Allied Health Assistants within the organisation.
• be actively involved in quality projects, clinical research and development and provision of education programs (to clients and staff).
• provide high level advice to support strategic and operational planning for the clinical services.

ABOUT YOU

Our ideal candidate would be an experienced Occupational Therapist (min. 3 years experience paediatrics) with exceptional communication skills, a proven track record in mentoring and training staff, providing support and guidance for complex presentations and fostering referral relationships within existing networks.

As a progressive and energetic leader, you will bring a passion for problem solving and provide outcomes to improving clinical pathways, processes and service delivery of Jump Up For Kids

You will be able to identify and develop opportunities and foster new referral relationships to further develop the allied health service.

Job Requirements

Key Accountabilities

Leadership of clinical services –

• Advise Managing Director on all matters related to clinical and therapy services
• Lead the AHA team to deliver high quality, evidence based services by Jump Up For Kids
• Establish new clinical services to further build on those currently offered by Jump Up For Kids , including running effective pilot programs before launch
• Supervise the Allied Health Assistant team, including supporting other OTs to delegate appropriately to Allied Health Assistants
• Deliver ongoing service improvement to increase the effectiveness of the team
• Hold professional accountability for the Allied Health Assistant team, ensuring that professional and quality standards are adhered to and maintained.
• Be the safeguarding lead for the organisation, ensuring Jump Up For Kids adheres to all relevant regulations and legislation in relation to delegation to and use of Allied Health Assistants in service provision
• Carry out clinical risk assessments to ensure best practice in service delivery is achieved across the organisation

Support research, education and development projects with clinical input –

• Lead the delivery of education, research and development projects in relation to the Kindy Uplift (& similar projects), in collaboration with Managing Director
• Disseminate research and education to support knowledge transfer, teaching and training programs both internally and externally.
• Be accountable for clinical placements for occupational therapy students, developing links with relevant education providers to provide inspirational educational opportunities for future occupational therapists
• Contribute to and help deliver consultancy projects that meet the objectives of the organisation.

Team management and strategic reporting

• Provide effective management to the AHA team & delegating OTs, as outlined on the attached organisation chart, setting clear objectives, managing and developing the team to deliver high performance levels
• Create effective relationships across the management team, collaborating with colleagues and working effectively together to deliver growth and excellent levels of service
• Provide verbal and written reports to Managing Director

Other duties

• To be committed to the work of Jump Up For Kids and work in accordance with the organisations policies and procedures
• To conduct such other duties as may be required by the organisation from time to time
• Willing and able to undertake work outside normal hours and travel as required
• Represent Jump Up For Kids at professional events and conferences and exhibitions for the general public to promote the work and services of the organisation.

Occupational Therapy evaluation and intervention

• Provide a comprehensive evaluation of a child’s current functioning and participation across all occupational domains.
• Use strengths based, neurodiversity affirming practices when working with children.
• Collaborative development of child and / or family centered goals.
• Collaborative design and implementation of agreed intervention plans that will promote the child’s skills, independence and participation in play, learning, social relationships, self care and rest.
• Use of tools that measure the impact and positive change for clients.
