We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for data comms, security, access control, CCTV and MATV projects, from the conceptual stage through to the final bid submission.
You are required to have a deep understanding of the above-mentioned systems, construction processes, and the ability to interpret scope of works, drawings, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of detailed, competitive, and technically robust estimates across structured cabling, communications, and electronic security systems.
- Interpret complex documentation (drawings, specifications, schedules, room data sheets, performance briefs) to define accurate scopes of work and pricing breakdowns.
- Work closely with project delivery teams to ensure continuity between tender intent and execution.
- Support project managers/supervisors during project initiation with handover packs, scope clarifications, and risk registers etc. This is to extend to the project lifecycle when required for continual support.
- Liaise with key subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing, build strong relationships, and stay ahead of market trends.
- Ensure all estimates comply with relevant standards (e.g., AS/NZS, ISO, BICSI, SCEC, Government/Defence requirements).
- Prepare professional and clear documentation, including BOMs, tender clarifications, inclusions/exclusions, and scope alignment requirements
- Reduce project risk and variation exposure by identifying scope gaps early and documenting inclusions/exclusions.

What You’ll Need To Have:
- Solid understanding of low-voltage systems estimating, including: Structured cabling (Cat6, 6A Fibre Optic etc), Access control systems (Tecom Forcefield, Gallagher, Inner Range, HID etc), CCTV (Milestone, Avigilon, Axis etc), EACS/Intrusion detection.
- Proficiency with estimation tools and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage priorities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
- High attention to details and organised.
