About the Opportunity

DVNQ has secured additional funding to expand its work in strengthening practice capability and service quality across organisations participating in the North Queensland DFV Networked Hub.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Response Team Leader – Embedded to lead the delivery of specialist domestic and family violence (DFV) outreach programs across key embedded partnerships. As a member of the Leadership Team, you will provide inspirational leadership, operational oversight, and specialist practice guidance to a dedicated team of practitioners supporting victim-survivors.

This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed, client-centred service delivery while fostering strong partnerships with agencies including Queensland Police Service, Townsville University Hospital, The Women’s Centre, and other community stakeholders. You will play a key role in driving service excellence, continuous improvement, compliance, and positive outcomes for individuals and families impacted by domestic and family violence.

This is a Fixed Term Part Time (0.7FTE through until 30/06/2028) position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, mentor and support a team of embedded DFV practitioners.
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed services that prioritise safety, empowerment and best-practice risk assessment.
  • Manage staffing, rostering, performance development, supervision, and workforce capability.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, contractual, accreditation and organisational requirements.
  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with key agencies and stakeholders to support integrated responses for victim-survivors.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, practice development, policy reviews, reporting and quality assurance activities.
  • Coordinate responses for high-risk clients and oversee information sharing in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, service development and identification of new partnership and program opportunities.
  • Represent the organisation professionally across the service system, networks and community forums.

Selection Criteria

To be considered, you will need to meet the following criteria:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree qualification in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or a related field (or extensive equivalent experience).
  • Minimum three years’ experience working within domestic and family violence or a related human services environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including staff supervision, coaching, performance management and team development.
  • Strong knowledge of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012, Child Protection Act 1999, Common Risk Assessment Framework and DFV Information Sharing Guidelines.
  • Experience leading programs and services that achieve positive client outcomes.

Skills and Competencies

  • Comprehensive understanding of domestic and family violence, trauma-informed practice, risk assessment, safety planning and crisis intervention.
  • Advanced decision-making skills in complex and high-risk environments.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to culturally safe and responsive practice, particularly when working with First Nations peoples.
  • Ability to lead practice excellence, quality improvement and evidence-informed service delivery.
  • Strong understanding of intersectionality, systemic barriers and advocacy for social change.
  • Resilient, emotionally intelligent and capable of supporting staff in demanding environments.
  • Commitment to a feminist framework and understanding of the gendered nature of domestic and family violence.

Mandatory Requirements
