Description

Senior HR and WHS leadership, two days a week

This is the opportunity to lead the people and safety function in a specialist domestic and family violence organisation, in a part-time arrangement that works around your life.

As HR Business Partner Lead you are the senior HR voice at Human & Co. You partner with the Senior Leadership Team on workforce planning, employment relations, performance and capability, and you lead our work health and safety programme, including oversight of the WHS Committee and our psychosocial risk work.

This is a 6-month fixed-term parental leave cover at 0.5 FTE, 5 days per fortnight, commencing 1 December 2026. The day pattern is negotiable. We are looking for someone who can step in quickly, hold the senior work, and hand it back in good shape.

What you will do

Partner with leadership:

  • advise the Senior Leadership Team on workforce planning, organisational development and people strategy.
  • ensure HR policies remain compliant with the Fair Work Act 2009, the National Employment Standards and the SCHADS Award.
  • use HR and WHS data to report trends and inform leadership decisions.
  • administer set and communication for our annual Great Place to Work survey and advise on outcomes.

Lead work health and safety:

  • lead the WHS systems and provide oversight and support to the WHS Committee.
  • manage psychosocial hazards, wellbeing, and bullying and harassment risk in a trauma-exposed workforce.
  • lead people-related incidents and injury claims, case manage return to work plans and liaise with insurer.

Advise on employment relations:

  • act as a trusted advisor to managers on performance, conduct, conflict and disciplinary matters.
  • lead investigations into complaints and concerns fairly, consistently and lawfully.
  • coach managers through performance conversations and leadership challenges.

Build capability:

  • lead recruitment for key roles, including inclusive job design and structured selection.
  • oversee onboarding, induction and learning compliance through our Employment Hero and Go1 platform.

This role is scoped to the senior HR and WHS functions. HR and payroll administration, employment documentation and employee record keeping are managed separately, so your hours go to advice, risk and leadership.
