Description
CHOSEN FAMILY fosters a community-centred environment that embraces diversity, flexibility, inclusion and belonging. We are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for people with disability to live fulfilling, empowered and independent lives.
We celebrate each person’s unique identity, culture, experiences and aspirations. Through person-centred, trauma-informed and inclusive support, we aim to build a community where everyone feels respected, valued and supported.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking compassionate, reliable and experienced Disability Support Workers across the Gold Coast, Helensvale and surrounding Queensland areas to join our growing team.
We have opportunities for both short-term respite support and ongoing, non-respite disability support, with potential shifts depending on participant needs, worker availability and service requirements.
We are particularly interested in support workers with experience supporting people with complex support needs, psychosocial disabilities, mental health challenges and behaviours of concern.
We are looking for individuals who are proactive, adaptable, respectful and confident in delivering safe, person-centred support. A current driver’s licence and access to a reliable, insured vehicle are essential, as community access and participant transport may form part of the role.
Whether you are seeking additional shifts, regular ongoing work or opportunities to provide respite support, we would love to hear from you!
Types of Support Available
Depending on participant requirements, available opportunities may include:
- Short-Term Respite: Supporting participants during planned respite stays, including overnight or extended support where required.
- Community Access: Assisting participants to attend appointments, participate in recreational activities and connect with their communities.
- Daily Living Support: Assisting with personal care, hygiene, meal preparation and household tasks.
- Capacity Building: Encouraging independence, confidence, daily living skills and meaningful participation.
- Psychosocial Support: Providing respectful, consistent support to people experiencing mental health challenges.
- Complex Support Needs: Supporting participants who may require positive behaviour support, emotional regulation strategies or additional assistance with daily activities.
Shift availability, locations, hours and support requirements will vary depending on individual participants.
