The role

We currently have an opportunity for a Payroll Officer to join the organisation and become a key member of CareFlight’s Finance team.

 

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, your key objectives for the role will be to timely and accurately process payroll in accordance with relevant award, EBA and legislative requirements, as well as maintain employee records and payroll related documentation.

 

Responsibilities will also include but not be limited to:

  • Process and reconcile manual timesheets, ensuring all employee attendance, leave, allowances, overtime, and shift variations are accurately recorded and entered into the payroll system.
  • Calculate and process employee entitlements including leave, allowances, penalties, back pays, superannuation, and other payroll-related payments.
  • Calculate, prepare and process termination payments accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Review payroll data for accuracy and identify discrepancies for investigation and resolution.
  • Respond to payroll enquiries from employees and key internal and external stakeholders in a professional, confidential, and timely manner.
  • Maintain and update salary packaging records and other payroll-related information within payroll and HR systems.
  • Assist with payroll reconciliations, payroll journals, and reporting requirements for Finance, Operations, Human Resources and external bodies as required.
  • Assist with payroll audits by preparing payroll records, reconciliations, and supporting documentation as required.
  • Process ad hoc payroll transactions and activities as requested by the Payroll Manager.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of payroll processes, systems, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Work collaboratively with Human Resources, Finance, managers, employees, and external providers to ensure payroll processes operate effectively and efficiently.
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities as reasonably required.

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • A minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Payroll system savvy. Exposure to varies system would be highly regarded.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise and plan workload.
  • Proficient with MS Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Able to work autonomously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with people at all levels (internal and external

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve payroll-related issues
