Bogan Shire Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Plant Operator to support the construction and maintenance of our rural roads, state highways and civil works programs. About the Role
As a Senior Plant Operator, you will play a key role in delivering road construction, maintenance and civil works programs. Key responsibilities include:
• Carrying out efficient and cost effective operations for rural roads, state highways and civil works
• Operating Council plant including Excavator, Backhoe, Skid Steer, Front End Loader and Jet Patcher
• Conducting daily safety checks, routine maintenance and cleaning of plant and equipment
• Completing construction and maintenance works on sealed surfaces, pavements and civil works sites to specified levels
• Mixing and applying road making materials to predetermined rates
• Completing accurate daily records including timesheets, running sheets and traffic control plans
• Reading, understanding and applying traffic control plans and ensuring correct use of PPE and safety equipment
• Assisting the Coordinator Shire Road Works with daily coordination of on ground activities, including supervision of team members, plant and materials
• Prioritising multiple tasks to meet deadlines and approved budgets
This role combines hands on plant operation with leadership, coordination and problem solving responsibilities.
Salary and Benefits
• Grade 4: $1,299.42 to $1,504.28 per week based on qualifications and experience

What We’re Looking For
You have:
• Strong knowledge of civil and road construction and maintenance operations
• Demonstrated experience operating heavy plant safely and efficiently
• Well developed organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Proven attention to detail, good judgement and practical problem solving skills
• Clear communication skills and the ability to interpret work programs and prepare routine reports
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, motivate and support team members
• Certificate III in Civil Construction (Plant Operations) or equivalent training and skills
• Previous NCC plant licences or demonstrated competency for Skid Steer, Backhoe, Front End Loader and Jet Patcher
• Current Class HC driver licence
• Current NSW White Card
• Australian residency or valid work visa
Desirable:
• Traffic Controller (Blue Card)
• Implement Traffic Control Guidance Plans (Yellow Card)
• Prepare Work Zone Traffic Management Plans (Red Card)
• Excavator competency
• Current First Aid Certificate
