About the role:
Join our dynamic team at the Brien Holden Foundation, dedicated to making a positive impact on public health. We are currently seeking a motivated and public health-driven Optometrist to be a key player in our Australia program, based out of Dubbo.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver outreach optometry services to approximately 14 communities surrounding Dubbo.
• Collaborate with Brien Holden Foundation Aboriginal Outreach Optometry Assistant based in Dubbo and ability to develop good working relationships with other primary health care practitioners.
• Work closely with the Head of NSW programs to build community clinic partnerships.
• Engage in general administration, reporting, and primary health care practitioner training, provide Indigenous workforce support and contribute to advocacy efforts.
Requirements:
Essential:
• Qualified AHPRA registered Optometrist with a passion for public health
• Ocular therapeutics endorsement
• Willingness to travel daily to outreach communities
• Ability to work from home when not in the clinic
• Strong organisational and administrative skills
• Commitment to community health and advocacy initiatives
• Confident working with children and young people as we do lots of school clinics.
• A current (or ability to get) Working with Children card, a National Police Check,
Desirable:
• Undergraduate or postgraduate training in areas relevant to Indigenous health, rural and remote health, public health, community development, or similar.
