About Barang

Barang Regional Alliance Ltd (Barang) is a not-for-profit Aboriginal organisation working to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on Darkinjung Country (Central Coast, NSW). Barang advocates for the reform of systems, policies and processes to improve service delivery and accountability to the Central Coast Aboriginal community.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and organised Local Decision-Making (LDM) Implementation Officer to support the delivery of LDM projects and operations. This role is responsible for providing secretariat support, coordinating community engagement, and contributing to the implementation of special projects aligned with the LDM Re-Engagement Strategy.

You will work closely with the LDM team to ensure milestones are achieved, records are maintained, and stakeholders are engaged in a timely and respectful manner.

Key Responsibilities

Secretariat and Project Support

  • Provide high-quality secretariat support for LDM meetings, including agendas, minutes and action tracking
  • Coordinate meeting logistics, travel arrangements and communications
  • Contribute to reports, background materials and case studies
  • Assist with social media content development to support visibility and engagement

Community Engagement and Partnerships

  • Provide regular updates to community forums such as CCAIN
  • Communicate with Barang member organisations and stakeholders
  • Coordinate appointments and correspondence related to LDM initiatives
  • Support youth and community participation in negotiation processes

Governance and Operational Support

  • Assist with governance training and quality reviews
  • Ensure accurate and secure file management using Microsoft Teams
  • Provide administrative support across documentation, reporting and event coordination
  • Participate in NSW Government working groups and forums

About You

You are a confident communicator, skilled in relationship building and capable of managing a range of administrative and engagement tasks. You are proactive, organised, and passionate about empowering Aboriginal communities through collaborative reform.

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated understanding of Australian Aboriginal cultures and community dynamics
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital platforms
  • NSW Driver’s Licence
  • National Police Check and Working with Children Check

Desirable

  • Identifies as an Aboriginal person and is accepted by the community
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, education, or community development
  • Relevant qualifications in stakeholder management or health education
