Description

Lead practical work. Mentor young people. Deliver real outcomes.

BackTrack is a nationally recognised organisation supporting young people who are doing it tough to find safety, purpose, and a community that never gives up on them. We work differently — with dogs, with farms, with real-world learning, and with a whole lot of heart.

As we continue to grow, we’re building a talent pool for upcoming Works Supervisor roles across BackTrack Works. These roles suit people who bring practical leadership, experience supervising work activities, and the ability to mentor young people in structured, hands-on environments. Opportunities may include both Trade Supervisors, who bring relevant trade qualifications and/or strong hands-on trade capability, and Non-Trade Qualified Supervisors, who bring practical operational experience in coordinating works activities, supporting young people on the job and maintaining safe, well-run work environments.

If you bring practical leadership, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to supporting young people through structured work and learning, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supervise, coordinate and mentor young people engaged in BackTrack Works activities
  • Deliver practical, hands-on learning that builds work readiness, confidence and safe work habits
  • Plan and oversee works projects and day-to-day activities to meet quality, time and budget expectations
  • Maintain safe, organised and compliant work environments, including equipment, documentation and site practices
  • Work closely with managers, customers, partners and the broader BackTrack team to support strong project and young person outcomes
  • For Trade Supervisor roles, apply hands-on trade capability to guide practical works and on-the-job learning

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for practical leaders who can support young people through structured work and learning. You’ll bring:

  • Experience supervising, coordinating, mentoring or training others in a practical work environment
  • A trade qualification and/or strong hands-on trade capability for Trade Supervisor roles, OR practical operational experience in works, maintenance, property, rural or related activities for Non-Trade Supervisor roles
  • The ability to support young people to build confidence, work readiness and positive work habits
  • A strong commitment to safe work practices, job coordination and maintaining clear records and documentation
  • Strong communication skills, sound judgement, and the ability to build effective relationships with young people, colleagues, customers and partners
  • A current Australian Driver’s Licence
  • White Card, Working with Children Check and National Police Check, or the willingness to obtain them

Why BackTrack?

  • Additional Annual Leave
  • Gifted Christmas leave
  • Salary packaging to boost take-home pay
  • Supportive, passionate team with strong community roots
  • Work in a nationally recognised organisation making real impact
  • Opportunities to grow, learn and step into leadership
