The opportunity

Enjoy opening doors, pitching opportunities and closing a sale? Bring your conference or exhibition sales experience to AusIMM and help businesses connect with the audiences that matter to them.

You’ll drive sponsorship, exhibition and group delegate revenue across our major conferences and events, finding new customers and turning commercial opportunities into sales.

What you’ll sell

You’ll take conference, exhibition and group delegate packages to Australian and international companies across resources and related industries.

What you’ll do

  • Win new business: proactively prospect and approach potential sponsors, exhibitors and group delegate customers.
  • Own the sales process: take opportunities from initial outreach and discovery through to proposals, negotiation and closing.
  • Build your pipeline: keep opportunities moving through consistent prospecting, timely follow-up and accurate CRM records.
  • Sell business value: connect customer objectives with relevant sponsorship, exhibition and delegate opportunities.
  • Create compelling proposals: develop tailored presentations and commercially sound packages that give customers a clear reason to invest.
  • Expand our reach: identify prospects in related industries, including businesses that haven’t previously partnered with AusIMM.
  • Grow commercial connections: represent AusIMM at industry events, meetings and networking opportunities.

About you

You’re a salesperson who enjoys building relationships and turning them into business. You’re comfortable initiating conversations, handling objections and asking for the sale. You bring persistence, commercial judgement and the discipline to follow through.

You’ll bring:

  • At least three years’ business development or sales experience within events, with a strong preference for experience in selling conferences and exhibitions.
  • A track record of winning new customers and achieving sales targets.
  • Confidence in proactive outreach- not just responding to enquiries or servicing existing accounts.
  • The ability to understand customer needs, present a persuasive proposal and negotiate a sale.
  • Strong organisation and follow-through, with the ability to manage your own pipeline and work collaboratively.
  • Confidence using CRM software and Microsoft Office to manage opportunities and prepare sales materials.
  • Experience working with the resources sector or not-for-profit organisations will be valued, but is not essential.
