Wind Turbine Installation – Mechanical Technicians

We are seeking Mechanical trade technicians with Wind Turbine experience to join our team on a full-time casual basis for work on our project near Wellington in Central West, NSW.

Roster: 21d/7d, Monday to Saturday 10hrs per day

Mobilisation: Staggered starts between June and August

Project Length: 18 months to 2 years

Flights from major cities and accommodation provided

The role of the Mechanical Wind Technician encompasses the installation, mechanical completions, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of wind turbines at a wind farm construction site. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. The Mechanical Wind Technician is responsible for ensuring the proper functionality of wind turbines and compliance with industry standards throughout their lifecycle.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Installation of the mechanical componentry of new wind turbines to handover to the client at a high standard
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on wind turbine components
  • Document all work completed and maintain detailed records of turbine performance
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
  • Provide technical support and mentoring to less experienced team members as required

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Wind Turbine Technician, preferably in a FIFO/DIDO role
  • Strong understanding of wind turbine systems, including hydraulic, and mechanical components
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work safely at heights and in remote locations
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible schedules to meet the needs of the business
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Current GWO or willing to obtain – Mandatory
  • ART trained – Highly desirable.
  • Relevant Certified Mechanical Trade – Mandatory
  • GE experience not essential, but highly desirable.
  • Heavy Vehicle License (HC/MC/MR) – desirable
  • HRWL – an advantage (RA, RI, EWP, D)
  • Lift Experience an advantage
