Description

Objective:

The Mechanical Technician plays a key role in the maintenance, and repair of wind turbines at site level. This includes inspecting, diagnosing, and resolving mechanical and hydraulic issues, as well as completing scheduled maintenance and ensuring all components operate safely and efficiently. The role involves fitting and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate or repair turbine equipment, supporting both mechanical and electrical completions, and maintaining compliance with industry and site standards. Success in this position requires a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team to ensure the reliable performance of the wind turbines throughout their lifecycle.

Job Tasks and Duties:

  • Interpreting diagrams, drawings,specifications and plans to determine suitable material and sequence of operations
  • Inspect the exterior and physical integrity of wind turbine towers
  • Climb wind turbine towers to inspect or repair wind turbine equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance on wind turbines
  • Test and troubleshoot mechanical, and hydraulic components and systems
  • Measuring and marking out materials for fabrication
  • Cutting, grinding, and shaping composite materials
  • Replace worn or malfunctioning components
  • Collect turbine data for testing or research and analysis
  • Service underground transmission systems, wind field substations, or fiber optic sensing and control systems
  • May erect machines and equipment on-site
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the organisation’s associated policies and procedures

Experience required:

AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma including at least two years employment experience or minimum 3 years employment experience may substitute for qualification.

Job Details

Full-Time minimum 38 hours per week

Salary: $80,000 – $120,000 + super
