Overview

Builders Centre is an exciting venture selling building materials, reinforcing, landscape supplies, and general hardware with two stores in one the fastest growing regions in Australia, as well as a new digital platform going live in Q1 2026. With stores in Kemps Creek and West Hoxton, and the new Sydney International Airport on our doorstep, residential and commercial development is booming in this area. Builders Centre is part of the Australasian Progressive Group, a group of manufacturing and trading businesses in the building materials and construction products industry in Australia which includes Mesh & Bar and MeshWorks.

Responsibilities

  • Full accountability for the trial balance and financial integrity of the business including overseeing AP/AR processing and short-term cashflow forecasting.
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts, produce monthly management accounts, conduct variance analysis, and deliver group reporting.
  • Deliver detailed analysis and recommendations on margins, supplier rebates, logistics costs, and workforce productivity.
  • Collaborate with the Operations and Technology teams to improve stock visibility, order tracking, and lead times.
  • Support technology stack transitions and data migration for ERP and digital platforms.
  • Drive process improvements in stock management, procurement, and fulfilment.
  • Monitor and report on eCommerce KPIs: conversion rates, basket size, customer journey, and online sales growth.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in retail, distribution, logistics, and/or eCommerce businesses.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels, including vendors, customers, and internal team members up to board level.
  • Exceptional time management, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with analytical tools such as Power BI.
  • Strong preference for prior experience with Microsoft Business Central (or Navision) and digital platforms such as HubSpot, Klaviyo, and Shopify.
  • CA or CPA qualification preferred.

Reporting: The Finance Manager will report to the General Manager of Builders Centre with a dotted line to the APG Group CFO.
