Description
MLB is a specialist insurance building repairer, delivering quality repair solutions with a strong focus on customer service, technical accuracy and quality outcomes. As part of the broader Ambrose Construct Group, MLB provides an exciting opportunity to join a growing business backed by an established national insurance repair network.
We are looking for an experienced Virtual Estimator to join our team.
This is a fully desktop-based estimating role, completing building assessments, scopes and estimates remotely using photographs, reports, measurements, documentation and video assessments. There is no requirement to travel to site, making this an ideal opportunity for someone with strong insurance building knowledge who enjoys the technical side of assessing and estimating.
The Role
As a Virtual Estimator, you will manage allocated claims through remote assessment, scope preparation, estimating, peer review and submission.
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Completing virtual and desktop assessments using supplied photographs, reports, measurements, documentation and video calls
• Preparing accurate building repair reports, scopes of works and estimates
• Reviewing damage information and determining appropriate repair methodologies based on the evidence available
• Conducting professional video assessments with customers when required
• Identifying missing or conflicting information and requesting further evidence where necessary
• Preparing estimates using approved rates, recipes and predefined estimating items
• Ensuring scopes and estimates accurately reflect the documented damage and required repairs
• Managing allocated files through assessment, estimating, peer review and submission
• Responding to estimating queries, corrections and requests for further information
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date file notes, actions and supporting evidence
• Working closely with field assessors, Building Managers, Claims teams and other operational teams
• Escalating complex, high-risk or technically sensitive matters where a physical site assessment or specialist input is required
About You
We are looking for someone who combines strong building knowledge with excellent attention to detail and the ability to confidently assess repairs remotely.
Ideally, you will have:
• Experience in desktop estimating, insurance building, construction estimating, building assessment, restoration or a similar environment
• Strong knowledge of building repairs, materials and repair methodologies
• Experience preparing scopes of works and building repair estimates
• The ability to assess information from photographs, videos, measurements, plans and reports
• Strong estimating and cost-control skills
• Experience using Prime Ecosystem or a comparable estimating or job management system
• Excellent written communication and report-writing skills
• Strong computer literacy and confidence working across multiple systems
• Excellent organisation and time-management skills
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify gaps or inconsistencies in supplied information
• A customer-focused and professional communication style
• Full working rights in Australia
A qualification or background in building, construction, estimating, quantity surveying, project management or insurance restoration would be highly regarded.
Why Join MLB?
This is a great opportunity for an experienced insurance building professional who wants to move away from travelling between sites while continuing to use their technical knowledge.
You’ll enjoy a role focused on desktop assessment and estimating, while working collaboratively with field assessors, building teams and claims professionals.
