Summary:

The Policy Officer will play a crucial role in shaping and implementing public policies that align with the strategic objectives of the government. Based in Canberra, this full-time contract position requires a proactive individual who can analyse complex issues, engage with stakeholders, and contribute to the development of effective policy solutions. The successful candidate will support the government in addressing key challenges and enhancing community outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on policy issues to inform decision-making.
  • Draft policy papers, reports, and briefing notes for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and industry representatives, to gather insights and feedback.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of policies and programmes to assess their effectiveness.
  • Assist in the preparation of submissions and presentations for government inquiries and consultations.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in policy development or analysis within the public sector.
