Description

Shape the success of online and instore retail operations – lead a team across retail, rentals, community sales, and online channels, with the opportunity to directly influence revenue growth and business performance.

This is a full time, permanent role, at our Lower Hutt store.

About the role

You’ll lead a high-performing retail team that helps customers find the right mobility and independent living solutions while driving store growth, revenue, and community presence.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines retail management, sales coaching, business development, and customer relationship management. You’ll be responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience, growing in-store and online sales and profitability, and building a culture where team members are confident in identifying customer needs and providing tailored solutions.

You’ll coach and develop your team of five to achieve sales targets, maximise revenue opportunities, and ensure every customer receives expert advice and support. You’ll also nurture relationships with referrers, suppliers, and community partners to increase awareness of our products and services across Wellington and Kapiti Coast .

As part of the role, you’ll undertake van-based sales appointments, helping customers find the right mobility scooter solutions while growing revenue opportunities throughout the region.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead day-to-day retail operations, delivering exceptional customer experiences and strong commercial results.
  • Drive revenue growth across in-store, community-based, van sales, rental hire, and online sales channels.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members to confidently identify customer needs, recommend solutions, and achieve sales targets.
  • Monitor sales performance, customer trends, and key business metrics to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with health professionals, community organisations, and referral partners to generate new business opportunities.
  • Work closely with the other Mobility Centre stores to enable shared success.
  • Increase local awareness of Mobility Centre products and services through community engagement and networking.

  • Manage store reporting, budgets, stock oversight, and general administration.
  • Spend at least 30% of your time in the community providing mobility scooter solutions to clients, working alongside occupational therapists, building referral pathways, and generating new business opportunities.

About you

You’ll be an experienced retail leader with a track record of closing sales, developing people, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. You enjoy leading from the front, coaching others to succeed, and finding opportunities to grow revenue while making a positive difference in people’s lives.

You’ll also bring:

  • Experience in retail management, multi-channel retail, or a similar management role.
  • Proven success achieving sales and revenue targets and growing business performance.
  • Experience coaching and developing teams to deliver strong sales results and customer outcomes.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including the ability to analyse performance data and identify growth opportunities.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Experience building community partnerships and referral networks that generate new business.
  • A consultative approach to sales, helping customers find the right solutions for their individual needs.
  • Physical capability to undertake retail tasks, including loading and unloading mobility scooters from a van.
  • An understanding of, or commitment to, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga Māori, and the principles of Enabling Good Lives.
