Information Coordinator
Permanent part-time – 14 hours per week Based in Hamilton
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Information Coordinator to join our Services and Altogether Autism team.
We’re looking for a confident and community-minded person who is passionate about supporting disabled people and their whānau to access useful, accurate and relevant information.
In this role, you’ll work alongside disabled people, whānau and communities across the Waikato, helping people connect with services, supports and community opportunities. You’ll respond to information requests through a range of channels, including phone, email, live chat and face-to-face engagement, while also building strong relationships across local communities.
You’ll be a visible and trusted presence at community events, expos, networking hui and local gatherings. You’ll bring strong relationship-building and communication skills, along with the ability to listen, understand what matters to people and connect them with information that supports informed decision-making.
A commitment to person-led practice, the Enabling Good Lives vision and principles, and an understanding of tikanga, Te Ao Māori and Pasifika perspectives are important. You’ll also be comfortable working across a range of community settings and using online platforms and systems in your daily work.
As an Information Coordinator for Your Way | Kia Roha, you will:
- Provide accurate, relevant and accessible information to disabled people, whānau, professionals and the wider community.
- Support people to identify and access government agencies, services, equipment, information and community opportunities.
- Respond to information requests through live chat, social media, email, phone and face-to-face engagement.
- Build trusted relationships with disabled people, whānau, iwi, hapū, marae, schools, employers, health providers, community groups and local organisations.
- Represent Your Way | Kia Roha at community events, expos, networking meetings and outreach activities.
- Help create opportunities for disabled people and whānau to connect, share experiences and strengthen local support networks.
- Work collaboratively with community organisations and service providers to improve access to disability information.
- Support communities to become more welcoming, accessible and inclusive.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting on information requests, trends and unmet needs.
- Apply the Enabling Good Lives vision and principles to increase disabled people’s choice and control.
- Contribute ideas and improvements to the way disability information is provided across the organisation.
What you will bring:
- A strong understanding of the Enabling Good Lives vision and principles and how to apply these in practice.
- Confidence engaging with diverse communities and building trusted relationships.
- The ability to communicate clearly and adapt your approach to meet different needs.
- Cultural awareness, particularly in relation to tikanga, Te Ao Māori and Pasifika perspectives.
- Knowledge of Waikato communities, local networks, disability organisations and community resources, or the ability to quickly build these connections.
- Confidence working in community settings such as marae, schools, libraries, community hubs, expos and local events.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence using online software, systems and communication platforms.
- A deep understanding or lived experience of disability, or personal experience as a whānau member or ally of a disabled person.
- The willingness and ability to travel around the Waikato region when required.
