We’re looking for someone with heart, empathy, and commitment to become our next Hearing Therapist.
About the Role
Hearing Therapy is a nationwide service that provides holistic, person-centred support for adults with hearing loss. This includes hearing assessments, rehabilitation, practical strategies, and community education to improve hearing health and wellbeing.
As a Hearing Therapist Trainee with Your Way | Kia Roha, you will be based at our Nelson office, with regular travel required throughout the Nelson Bays & Tasman regions, meeting clients to assess their needs and provide practical, personalised support.
From time to time, you’ll also connect with people in community settings such as outreach clinics or group events.
This is a permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday).
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting people with hearing loss through assessments, information sharing, and practical rehabilitation strategies
- Delivering culturally responsive services, tailored to meet the diverse needs of individuals and their whānau
- Promoting hearing wellbeing in the community through outreach, networking, and educational presentations
- Building relationships with key health and social service providers
- Maintaining clear and accurate client records and notes
Training & Support
We’ll fully fund and support your study towards the NZ Diploma in Hearing Therapy (Level 6) — an on-the-job learning programme that takes around 2 years to complete. You’ll be guided by experienced Hearing Therapists, Team Leaders, and our Learning & Development team throughout your training journey.
A genuine commitment to completing this qualification is essential.
What You’ll Bring
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to build rapport and trust with people from all walks of life
- Curious, empathetic, and able to ask thoughtful, open-ended questions
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and database systems
- A full New Zealand driver licence (you’ll be on the road!)
- Cultural awareness and respect for diverse communities, including a connection with or understanding of Te Ao Māori and Pasifika cultures
- A values-driven approach aligned with the Enabling Good Lives vision
