Te tūranga | The role
Wheako Pōneke Experience Wellington is seeking a highly organised and motivated Curatorial Coordinator to join our City Gallery Wellington & Content directorate on a part-time basis for 32 hours per week.
This is a unique opportunity to work alongside curators, programmers, artists and cultural practitioners, supporting the development and delivery of ambitious exhibitions, publications, public programmes and events. The role provides a valuable pathway into curatorial and content practice while offering broad exposure to the inner workings of a dynamic contemporary arts organisation
You will provide research, editing, writing and translation support across a range of exciting initiatives. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard, while supporting the day-to-day operations of the Content directorate.
Ngā tino pūkenga me ngā wheako | The essential skills and experience for the role
- Experience researching artists, artworks, social history or cultural content
- Strong writing, editing and copy-editing skills for curatorial texts, digital content and publications
- Excellent coordination and communication skills to support curators, programmes, events and busy project teams
- Understanding of tikanga Māori, te ao Māori and the importance of bringing a Māori dimension to public experiences
- Ability to support Te Reo Māori translation processes and work respectfully with external translators
