Representative of the family of the late James Busby
Waitangi National Trust Board

The Waitangi National Trust Board invites expressions of interest from a representative of the Family of the late James Busby for appointment as a Trustee, in accordance with the Waitangi National Trust Board Act 1932.

This is a voluntary governance role contributing to the stewardship of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and the kaupapa of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

We are seeking candidates who:

  • Have whakapapa connection to the late James Busby.
  • Demonstrate understanding of tikanga Māori andTe Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Can contribute constructively at a governance level.

The appointment is for a three-year term (with the possibility of extension up to 9 years), commencing following the June 2026 Trust Board hui.
