The Role

We are looking for an experienced Fitter Welder Fabricator to join our Production Team. This role is primarily focused on accurately fitting and assembling equipment onto trucks, including the installation and alignment of fabricated components and weldments.

While welding is part of the role, the core focus is precision fitting, assembly, and ensuring all work is completed to a high standard first time.

This is a critical role within our build team. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, works to specification, and delivers quality outcomes without rework. The successful candidate will be someone the Team Leader can rely on to complete assigned tasks on time, in full, and to specification.

You will be working as part of a dynamic production team delivering specialist truck-mounted equipment to the utilities sector.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Fitting and assembling specialist equipment onto trucks in accordance with build specifications • Welding and fitting fabricated components and weldments as required • Fabrication, assembly, repairs, and general engineering tasks as required • Preparation of components for sandblasting and painting • Completing reports, check sheets, and production documentation • Maintaining key production and quality metrics • Upholding all health and safety requirements and relevant certifications • Working collaboratively with the production team to meet build schedules and delivery commitments

 

About You

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in fabrication, fitting, and welding • Experience working with steel, aluminium, and stainless steelFlux core and hard wire welding tickets (or overseas equivalent) preferred • Trade qualification desirable but not essential • Experience operating a gantry crane (ticket preferred) • Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality work first time • Ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver work to specification without rework • Strong teamwork and communication skills • A current Class 1 Driver Licence is required; Class 2 Licence preferred • Physically fit and able to meet the demands of a hands-on engineering environment

Role Details

 

Location: Richmond, Nelson

Hours: Monday – Friday, 6:30am – 3:00pm Minimum 40 hours per week. Overtime and occasional Saturday work may be required depending on production demands.
