Description

Tū Ora Compass Health are seeking a Wellbeing Health Coach who is motivated to make a positive difference in people’s lives.  

This is a full-time permanent position, primarily based in the Hutt Valley which sits within the Hutt Valley Talking Therapies/Wellbeing Team. 

 

The role involves helping patients gain the knowledge, skills, tools, and confidence to become active participants in their own care and reach self-identified goals. To do this the Wellbeing Health Coach will work collaboratively with Mental Health Professionals (MHP) in the Talking Therapies/Wellbeing Team, to develop active partnerships with clients and walk alongside them to make positive lifestyle changes, reduce high risk behaviours, manage stress, and improve their health and wellbeing.    

Our ideal candidate will come from a health or well-being background and be flexible, resilient, empathetic and connected to the community.

 

 We are seeking applicants with the following skills: 

  • A willingness to embrace new ways of working 
  • The ability to work with diverse patient and staff population 
  • Basic knowledge of general practice, long term conditions and common mental health concerns 
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and engage effectively with people who may feel hesitant or disengaged from the healthcare system, using a respectful, non-judgemental and patient-centred approached 
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti of Waitangi principles and a commitment to Māori health equity 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills 
  • A full and current NZ driver’s license 

 

For the successful applicant a nationally recognised Health Coach training will be provided with ongoing support.
