We are seeking an experienced Senior Communications and Engagement Lead to provide organisation-wide leadership across communications, engagement, media, and brand. This is a senior role with real influence, working closely with the Executive Leadership Team and CEO. 

Tū Ora Compass Health is a not-for-profit Primary Health Organisation supporting around 440,000 people across the greater Wellington region through a network of 70 general practices and community health services. 

About the role 

·Lead and deliver a strategic communications and engagement approach aligned with organisational priorities 

·Provide trusted communications advice to senior leaders and support ministerial and stakeholder engagement 

·Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing communications team 

·Act as brand guardian, ensuring consistent and effective brand and reputation management 

·Oversee media relations, issues management, and emergency communications 

·Lead digital and social media strategy and performance 

·Partner across the organisation to tell compelling stories that reflect our impact and values 

·Support equity-focused health promotion and Te Tiriti o Waitangi commitments 

 

About you 

·5+ years’ experience in senior communications, engagement, or public relations roles 

·Proven people leadership experience and a collaborative leadership style 

·Strong strategic thinking with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels 

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

·Solid experience in media relations, digital and social media, and content strategy 

·A commitment to equity, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and culturally responsive practice 

·Experience in the health or public sector (preferred but not essential)
