1.Review the role

2.Complete the application form

Complete all four parts of the Expression of Interest (EOI) form. You will be asked to:

  • explain why you are interested in the promotion opportunity
  • reflect on your suitability for the role
  • provide examples of how your skills and experience meet the role requirements
  • consider your readiness to transition into the role
  • identify any areas for further development
  • assess your current capability against the key capability areas of the role

3.Submit your application

Once you have completed the form, upload your EOI application form where you would normally upload a CV. Please check that you have completed all sections before submitting your application.

4.Attend a panel interview

Your EOI application will be assessed, and you will be invited to attend a panel interview as part of the promotion pathway process.

5.Receive the outcome

Once the assessment process is complete, your People Manager will meet with you to discuss the outcome of your application and provide feedback.

Job Description – Senior Consultant Level 2

Position:                         Senior Consultant Level 2

Reports to:                     Principal Consultant or General Manager – Customer Delivery

Purpose

The Senior Consultant (Level2) is responsible for managing, leading, and delivering testing services and consultancy following best practices to meet TTC client requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, be diplomatic, motivational and influential. They will also have strong negotiation skills while being proactive and strategic in how they operate. The ability to be hands on as and when required will also be expected.

Key Duties (Functional)

  • Provide guidance and actively promote best practice methods and approaches
  • Lead, support and deliver functional testing activities and services throughout the SDLC.
  • Produce accurate and concise test reports that can be easily consume by business stakeholders and provide true transparency
  • Act as liaison for data management, test automation delivery, test environment management and performance and any other non-functional testing.
  • Create overarching test strategies that incorporate modern approaches and are built to optimise testing.
  • Produce test plans and approaches based of these strategies covering all relevant test phases.
  • Where applicable, set KPIs for team members e.g. test case execution rate, coverage, invalid defect rates, automation coverage, etc.
  • Estimate test effort across diverse system architectures, including both functional and non-functional testing.

Key Duties (Technical)

  • Lead, support and deliver technical testing activities and services throughout the SDLC.
  • Provide guidance for the team regarding best practices and approaches.
  • Produce accurate and concise test reports that can be easily consumed by business stakeholders, reports that provide true transparency regarding the technical testing status
  • Create test automation and / or performance test strategies, plans and approaches.
  • Create technical testing platform(s) e.g. test automation frameworks, performance test architectures.
  • Act as liaison for functional test management, data management, test environment management and any other non-functional testing.
  • Conduct proof-of-concepts on various tools to arrive at appropriate recommendations to the client.
  • Create and present tool recommendations based on proof-of-concepts or general technical knowledge
  • Where applicable, set KPIs for team members, e.g. automation development skills, overall test automation coverage, code reviews, etc.
  • Estimate test effort across diverse system architectures, including both functional and non-functional testing.

Operational Management

  • Ensure accurate and weekly timesheet recording for themselves and their team members.
  • Provide upstream reporting to TTC Line Management and Account Managers (GMs) covering both test progress and team member pastoral concerns/issues.
  • Identify opportunities for test process improvement opportunities within a client site, looking across all applicable projects and programmes
  • Meet with client to determine requirements and define scope of project
  • Work with leadership team to identify, generate, develop and execute sales opportunities.
  • Provide input for budgets, commercial negotiations and client deliverables
  • Scope, support and estimate work for proposal and bid writing (i.e. SoW, ToE)

Teamwork

  • Share knowledge with both client and TTC teams.
  • Contribute to a fun and motivated team culture.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews of the work of team members.
  • Work with TTC Senior Management to share and implement continuous improvements.
  • Lead and contribute to team effectiveness by offering value added suggestions at meetings, providing learning feedback/comments and support to others that aim to improve team performance and staff motivation.
  • Provide input into performance reviews of TTC delivery staff.
  • Contribute to manuals, procedures, and other relevant documentation.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrate effective leadership.

  • Possess a strong understanding of all aspects of the SDLC & ISTQB test standards and terminology.
  • Demonstrate and continually build sound technical knowledge and understanding of relational databases, web services, message queues, stubbing, virtual services and new technologies
  • Able to analyse and understand technically diverse application architectures.

Role-Related Experience

  • .Proven experience at a senior level with multiple project domains, technologies, applications, and test methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical skills essential, e.g. must be able to identify areas of project risk within an application and design an appropriately comprehensive test strategy.
  • Experience evaluating existing systems and procedures and making recommendations for improvement; designing prototypes and proof of concepts that best fit the client’s needs.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills from both a business and system perspective.
  • Conceptual understanding of aspects of an automation test methodology.
  • Experience with a variety of platforms, e.g. SAAS, On-Premise, custom-built applications.
  • 10+ years in software testing and related technical areas such as development, business analysis, data management, etc
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate open discussion and constructive debate.
  • Experience in conducting demonstrations for audiences of varying technical prowess
  • Experience and / or understanding with a variety of manual and automation testing tools
  • e.g. Selenium, SOAPUI, Tosca Test Suite, Playwright, Azure DevOps, etc.

Qualifications

  • ISTQB Certified qualifications at the Advanced level
  • Relevant Academic qualifications
  • Relevant industry qualifications

Work Conditions

  • Occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines.
  • Participation in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
  • Travel may be required for the role.
