Description

Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Abseiler to join our team in Henderson, Auckland.

This permanent, full-time role is essential for ensuring the safety and functionality of our building and construction projects.

The ideal candidate will possess mid-senior level experience and will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety across various sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building structures, including abseiling tasks as required.
  • Conduct inspections to identify issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople and contractors to complete projects efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report on progress.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in good working order.
  • Assist in the development of maintenance schedules and procedures.

Technical Competencies

  • Rope access work method execution (safe set-up, controlled movement, work positioning, exclusion management)
  • Façade and building envelope remedial maintenance (live-site delivery)
  • Aluminium façade systems understanding (interfaces, tolerances, common failure points)
  • Sealant and joint remediation (removal, surface prep, re-sealing, finishing)
  • Glazing interface and perimeter detailing awareness (water-path and air-seal basics)
  • Coatings and protective treatment application (prep, application discipline, defect prevention)
  • Defect recognition and condition reporting (water ingress indicators, corrosion, fixings, sealant failure)
  • Quality control and evidence capture (photos, completion notes, simple defect logs)
  • Tool and consumables discipline (correct selection, control, and safe handling at height)

Essential

  • IRATA certification (Level 1,2 or 3)   Current First Aid certificate
  • Current Site Safe (or equivalent NZ construction site induction)
  • Hands-on rope access work experience in operational environments (live sites), with evidence of completing assigned scopes safely under supervision where required

Desirable

  • Site Safe Supervisor course / Site Safety Card (commonly expected for people supervising or leading on construction sites; card validity is time-bound).
  • ConstructSafe Supervisors (Tier 3) (where principal contractors or large sites require this competency verification for leaders).
  • MEWP / EWP operator certification (where teams regularly shift between rope access and EWPs across live commercial sites).
