Description

The Plant People is one of New Zealand’s largest landscaping companies, with more than 120 people across both the North and South Island, along with our own nursery, Signature Plants.

We are reshaping our Christchurch construction capability and are hunting for a Landscape Construction Project Manager who can own projects from plan to final handover.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone genuinely credible across both hard and soft landscape construction. One week you are managing retaining walls, paving, drainage and engineered structures. The next you are sequencing planting, irrigation and turf establishment to a standard that lasts. You will read the drawings, run the programme, manage the regulatory requirements, direct the subcontractors, and staff on site and remotely to make sure the work is right.

You will carry full project profit and loss accountability. Gross margin, subcontractor cost discipline and variation management sit with you, backed by a regional and national operations team. You will report locally to our Christchurch Regional Manager and functionally to our National Operations Manager, so your ability to clearly communicate and self-direct matter.

What you bring:

  • At least five years managing landscape construction projects across both hard and soft works
  • Confidence reading construction drawings, engineering details and specifications
  • A working command of NZ3910, consent processes and QA
  • Strong commercial instinct and a record of protecting margin
  • Site Safe Gold Card, First Aid, Growsafe and a current NZ licence

What you get: real autonomy, genuine variety across Canterbury’s best projects, the backing of an established national business, and the chance to build a team and leave it stronger than you found it.

Canterbury’s landscape is yours to shape. Apply now.
