About the role

The Kaiwhiriwhiri Whānau Ora  Navigator is a trusted bridge between whānau and the community, providing strength, guidance, and support through times of challenge and change. The role focuses on walking alongside whānau to achieve wellbeing, healing, and autonomy across all areas of life.

Through culturally grounded practice and genuine aroha, the Kaiwhiriwhiri supports whānau to realise their goals, build resilience, and strengthen identity – connecting them with the tools and opportunities needed to thrive now and into the future.

Requirements

  • Relevant Level 4 qualification (or higher) in Social, Community, or Mental Health Services (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience or lived experience in social work, whānau/community engagement, or Whānau Ora (new graduates welcome)
  • Strong culturally grounded practice, including Te Tiriti, tikanga Māori, and whānau-centred approaches
  • An effective communicator and advocate, able to build trust, navigate complex systems and work collaboratively
  • Full NZ driver’s licence

 

Desirable

  • Fluency in Te Reo Māori or willingness to learn
  • Fluency in a Pasifika language and culture
