Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our premium dining team. This is a unique opportunity for a hospitality professional who thrives in a luxury service environment and is committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Working closely with the Restaurant Manager, you will play a key role in leading daily operations, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring our guests receive world-class service in an elegant and sophisticated setting.

Key Responsibilities

As Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will:

  • Oversee and manage daily restaurant operations, including team leadership, guest service, and inventory control.
  • Manage opening and closing procedures to ensure smooth and efficient venue operations.
  • Maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness, presentation, and stock availability throughout the restaurant.
  • Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance development of restaurant staff.
  • Foster a culture of service excellence, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of food, wine, cocktail, and beverage offerings and support team training initiatives.
  • Work closely with kitchen and back-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Support daily shift planning, labour management, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of private dining experiences, special events, and exclusive functions.
  • Support rostering, reporting, stock management, and venue compliance requirements.
  • Handle guest feedback, enquiries, and complaints with confidence, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, health and safety, and liquor licensing regulations.
  • Lead by example, creating memorable experiences for guests while inspiring and developing your team.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years management experience within a luxury hospitality, fine dining, premium restaurant, hotel, private club, or resort environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading, coaching, and developing high-performing hospitality teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage confidently with guests, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of wine, cocktails, barista operations, and premium food service.
  • A thorough understanding of luxury service standards, service sequence, and guest experience delivery.
  • Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, POS systems, and hospitality booking platforms.
  • A current LCQ and Duty Manager’s Certificate.
  • A current, full New Zealand Driver Licence.
