We are seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead our front-of-house operation and drive operational excellence in a fast-paced, high-performing environment.

This is a permanent, full-time leadership position with significant responsibility for service standards, team performance, financial results, and compliance.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading, motivating, and developing a high-performing hospitality team.
  • Preparing and managing staff rosters while maintaining labour costs within budget.
  • Managing recruitment support, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and staff development.
  • Leading daily service, conducting pre-shift briefings, and ensuring consistently high service standards.
  • Managing reservations, functions, and large group bookings.
  • Monitoring venue performance, completing sales reconciliations, investigating discrepancies, and supporting wage and cost control.
  • Overseeing stock, beverage, and operational controls relevant to front-of-house performance.
  • Maintaining compliance with food safety, health and safety, host responsibility, and liquor licensing requirements.
  • Ensuring all operational systems, policies, and standard operating procedures are consistently followed.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service delivery, and team performance.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A current and valid New Zealand Duty Manager Certificate.
  • At least two years’ management experience in a busy restaurant, bar, or premium hospitality venue, including responsibility for leading teams, controlling labour costs, and overseeing daily operations. Candidates with three or more years’ experience in a senior venue management role will be highly regarded.
  • Proven experience managing staff rosters, labour costs, and service delivery in a high-volume environment.
  • Experience coaching and developing hospitality team members.
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness, including experience with POS reporting, sales reconciliation, and operational cost control.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 35 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

A relevant qualification in Hospitality Management, Business Management, or a related discipline would be advantageous but is not essential. Candidates with substantial relevant management experience are encouraged to apply.

Experience using hospitality management systems, rostering software, reservation platforms, and POS reporting systems will be highly regarded.
