Description

Are you guided by hope and a belief that everyone deserves the chance to thrive?

If you bring hope, reliability, and a genuine belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive, this could be your next meaningful step.

As a Community Mental Wellbeing Worker, you’ll walk alongside tāngata as they reconnect with their strengths and their community — supporting them to rebuild confidence, move away from distress, and toward wellbeing on their own terms.

Mō Te Tūranga | About The role

This is a community-based role supporting adults living with mental health challenges who are living independently (though not necessarily alone). You’ll provide flexible, person-centred support in tāngata’s homes and chosen safe spaces, working collaboratively with whānau, community networks, and health services.

Grounded in recovery and strengths-based practice, this role focuses on connection, hope, and practical support — helping tāngata move toward greater independence, wellbeing, and citizenship within their communities.

In this role, you will:

  • Walk alongside tāngata using recovery-oriented, strengths-based approaches
  • Support goal setting, wellbeing planning, and self-management
  • Connect tāngata with community, education, employment, and health supports
  • Liaise with multiple agencies across the mental wellbeing sector
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and professional records
  • Participate in supervision, team meetings, and shared learning
  • Contribute positively to a supportive, values-driven team culture

Mōu | About you

We’re looking for someone who is grounded, reliable, and genuinely hopeful — someone who believes people can and do recover, and who can hold that hope even when things feel complex.

You’ll bring curiosity, compassion, and strong professional boundaries, along with the ability to connect authentically and ethically with people from diverse backgrounds.

Must Have:

  • A full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Digital literacy and confidence with record keeping
  • Experience or a genuine interest in working in mental health support

Desirable:

  • A Level 4 Health & Wellbeing Certificate or related qualification
  • Experience working in community-based mental health settings

Qualities we value:

  • Thorough and accurate record keeping
  • Reliability and follow-through
  • A hopeful outlook and belief in equitable wellbeing for all
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

Tā mātou mahi | We offer

  • A supportive, values-driven workplace.
  • Ongoing professional supervision and training.
  • Paid sick leave, available from commencement (provided eligibility criteria are met).
  • Paid birthday leave (after six months permanent employment).
