Yard Person / Relief Driver

Are you an experienced Driver looking for a hands-on role with variety? Smart Environmental is seeking a Back‑Up Driver and Yard Person to join our team based in Hokitika.

About the Role

This is a diverse, practical role supporting daily operations, including yard duties and providing back‑up driving cover when required.

• Contract Type: Permanent, Full‑time
• Roster: Four days on / four days off
• Flexibility: Must be available to work additional days when required
• Hours: 7:30am – 4:00pm

Key responsibilities:

• Back‑up driving across operations as required
• Yard duties and general site support
• Operating or training to operate side loader and glass collection trucks for street collections
• Collection of town rubbish bins in and around Hokitika
• Completing daily vehicle checks and basic troubleshooting
• Logging information using Eroad / Logbooks
• Working safely at all times and following company procedures

Skills and experience:

• Holds a NZ Class 4 driver’s licence or equivalent.
• Experience in driving heavy licensed vehicles
• WTR endorsement and forklift licence
•  Experience using or willingness to learn side loader and glass trucks
• ·Experience in waste, transport, logistics, or similar operational roles
