SOUS CHEF – POPINA

Popina is a relaxed, modern café and evening restaurant, newly opening in early 2026. It
is built on great food, genuine hospitality, and a strong sense of team. We’re
looking for a hands-on Sous Chef who thrives in a busy kitchen, supports strong
systems, and takes pride in delivering consistent, high-quality food.
This is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the tools, leading by example, and
supporting the Kitchen Manager (Head Chef) in running a smooth, organised, and positive
kitchen.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
As Sous Chef, you will play a key role in keeping the kitchen running smoothly day to
day.
You will support the Kitchen Manager by maintaining standards, leading
service and helping ensure the kitchen operates efficiently, safely and calmly.
You’ll be a steady presence in the kitchen, helping guide the team, uphold systems
and deliver consistently great food.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Working on the tools during prep and service
Supporting smooth, efficient service flow
Maintaining food quality, consistency, and presentation
Leading by example with professionalism and pride
Following and reinforcing kitchen systems, recipes, and procedures
Supporting food safety, cleanliness, and organisation
Assisting with prep planning, stock control, and waste reduction
Helping maintain a clean, well-run, and compliant kitchen
Supporting junior team members through training and guidance
Communicating clearly and positively during service
Helping create a respectful, calm, and collaborative kitchen culture
