Role Overview

The Systems Administrator manages and optimizes our technology landscape, focusing heavily Epicor Kinetic Cloud ERP system. This solo IT role bridges the gap between business operations and technology. You will drive process improvements, support users, manage vendors, and ensure data integrity across our 65-employee manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities

Epicor Kinetic ERP Management

  • System Optimization: Configure, maintain, and continuously improve Epicor Kinetic Cloud modules (Production, Inventory, Finance, Scheduling).
  • Customization: Develop and maintain BAQs (Business Activity Queries), BPMs (Business Process Management), dashboards, and custom reports (SSRS/Application Studio). [1]
  • Upgrades &Testing: Manage the testing and deployment of Epicor cloud bi-annual releases.
  • Data Integrity: Monitor data workflows, troubleshoot transactional errors, and ensure system alignment with physical shop-floor realities.

Business Analysis & Process Improvement

  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with department heads (Production, Supply Chain, Finance) to map “as-is” processes and design “to-be” solutions.
  • Efficiency Improvements: Identify bottlenecks in the manufacturing process and leverage technology to automate tasks and eliminate waste.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain clear standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials for all business systems.

IT Support & Systems Administration

  • Helpdesk Support: Provide day-to-day hardware, software, and network troubleshooting for office and shop-floor staff.
  • User Management: Manage onboarding, offboarding, access permissions, and licensing for Epicor, Microsoft 365, and other local software.
  • Infrastructure Oversight: Oversee local network connectivity, shop-floor scanning devices, label printers, and workplace workstations.

Vendor & Project Management

  • Partner Collaboration: Act as the primary contact for our Epicor partner/consultants and external Managed Service Provider (MSP) who handles heavy infrastructure.
  • Project Delivery: Lead small-to-medium IT initiatives from scoping through to budgeting, implementation, and change management.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Epicor Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience administering or heavily developing within Epicor ERP (Kinetic Cloud preferred, Vantage/E10 considered).
  • Technical Toolkit: Strong proficiency in writing BAQs, understanding Epicor schema, and utilizing BPMs.
  • Manufacturing Savvy: Solid understanding of standard manufacturing processes (MRP, BOMs, inventory control, job costing).
  • Communication: Excellent English communication skills to explain technical concepts simply to shop-floor operators and executives alike.
  • Adaptability: A “can-do” attitude suited for a medium-sized business where you must switch between high-level analysis and hands-on tech support.

Desirable

  • Experience with C# or Epicor functions.
  • Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools.
  • Understanding of New Zealand manufacturing nuances (e.g., local payroll integrations, holiday act compliance basics as they relate to labor tracking).
