Description

We are expanding our contractor network in North Canterbury and Selwyn Districts, giving greater access across Canterbury totāngata whai ora seeking kanohi ki te kanohi (in person) therapy sessions. 

Mōtetūnga | Role Overview

The Mental Health Clinician provides a brief intervention talking therapy service for people referred by their General Practitioner who are experiencing challenges affecting their hauora hinengaro (mental wellbeing). Interventions are specific, short term and grounded in evidence based brief intervention modalities. 

This role suits a clinician who sees wellbeing through a holistic lens and recognises that meaningful progress can occur without long‑term therapy. They partner withtāngata whai ora to identify what matters most right now and guide them through focused, achievable steps that support movement toward the life they want to lead. 

Mōu | About you

The successful candidate will: 

  • ·Hold a relevant registered health professional qualification and full registration without conditions (eg. NZAC, SWRB, NZPB, Nursing Council, DAPAANZ, PBANZ)
  • ·3+ years working within a counselling/mental health environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of kaupapa Māori models of wellbeing (e.g., Te Whare Tapa Whā, Meihana Model) and the ability to integrate these into clinical practice appropriately.
  • ·Comprehensive understanding of talking therapy modalities, with confidence in delivering timely focused sessions. 
  • ·Demonstrate highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, and an ability to develop relationships with a wide variety of people. 
  • ·Good computer literacy with a willingness to learn new systems. 
  • ·Have their own private practice premises that supports safe and confidential service delivery.
