Ko tāu ake mahi | What you will be doing
As our Data & Analytics Engineer – Health Intelligence, you will help design, develop and maintain Pegasus Health’s data platform, pipelines and reporting datasets.
You will:
- Design, develop, maintain and administer data warehouse and data engineering processes.
- Build reliable data pipelines, transformations and well-modelled datasets for reporting and analytics.
- Investigate source systems, data flows, anomalies and discrepancies to support robust data design and trusted reporting.
- Improve automation, reliability, source control and structured development practices across data workflows.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and Health Intelligence colleagues to translate reporting needs into practical data solutions.
- Support Power BI reporting, troubleshooting, documentation and key business processes, including capitation.
- Contribute to exploratory work in AI, automation, advanced analytics and emerging data approaches where appropriate.
Ko ngā pūkenga ōu | What you will bring
We are looking for someone with strong technical foundations, sound judgement, curiosity and a commitment to using data to improve health outcomes.
You will bring:
- A relevant tertiary qualification, such as a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Analysis, Health Informatics or a similar field; or 3+ years’ equivalent experience with relevant certifications, such as Microsoft or Azure certifications.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the last 3 years in a data engineering, data analytics or data science role within a complex data environment.
- Experience administering and maintaining data warehousing, data engineering processes, pipelines, data transformation and data integration.
- Experience designing and developing data processing pipelines and data models for reporting and analytics.
- Strong SQL, data manipulation, data modelling, data warehousing, reporting and visualisation skills.
- Experience with data engineering tools, preferably in the Microsoft stack, such as Azure Data Factory and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure, Snowflake or Databricks.
- Power BI experience, including DAX, troubleshooting, data model development and report development.
- Experience with version control, such as Git, and structured development practices.
- Familiarity with privacy engineering techniques and data governance processes.
It would be an advantage if you also have:
- Experience in the health sector.
- Experience supporting complex reporting or analytics environments.
- Experience or exposure to building AI Agents, Machine learning or advanced analytics
- Familiarity with health data standards such as SNOMED, LOINC or ATC.
- Exposure to common data models or interoperability standards such as OMOP or FHIR.
