This is a career opportunity to join the Pathlab team – one
of New Zealand’s most advanced and respected pathology networks during a period
of change and transformation. As Operations Manager, you will have a broad
scope of operational functionals that encompass both enabling and core health
services. You will be directly responsible to drive both day-to-day excellence
and future-focused transformation across our organisation.
Within the operations function is facilities management,
procurement, logistics and supply chain, risk and quality and assurance who
alongside our core health services form our pre-analytics function. Ensuring they operate efficiently, reliably,
and in alignment with our strategic direction. You’ll be responsible for the
people who lead these teams, and work collaboratively with peers across the
business to support both clinical and corporate service outcomes.
A key part of this role is accountability for Health &
Safety across Pathlab. You’ll be responsible for meeting the duties set out in
the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, including ensuring robust systems are
in place to manage and monitor risks, fostering a culture of care.
This is not a passive operational role. We’re looking for
someone who brings a fresh lens to old problems, balances rigour with
creativity, and can translate ideas into outcomes. You’ll be experienced at
delivering operational requirements to achieve strategic outcomes, to think at
scale, helping to shape our long-term strategy and the way we work across
multiple sites.
What You’ll Bring
- Senior
experience in operations within a complex, regulated, and fast-paced
environment (e.g. healthcare, diagnostics, manufacturing, infrastructure
or supply chain).
- Strong
understanding of organisational Health & Safety responsibilities under
New Zealand law, and the confidence to take the lead on cultural and
procedural improvement.
- Knowledge of how high-performing teams are developed through collaboration, people empowerment, stakeholder engagement, and ‘lived in’ change management experience.
- Sound
judgement and financial acumen, with experience overseeing procurement
strategies, capital investment, and cost control.
- A
systems thinker, with the ability to identify interdependencies,
streamline processes, and drive innovation without losing sight of our
people or purpose.

to service quality and to supporting outcomes that matter to the
communities we serve.
