About the Role
We are currently seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician with a suitable qualification in Microbiology to join our Pathlab Bay of Plenty team in a full-time permanent capacity based in Tauranga.
The role will involve practising as a registered Technician undertaking aspects of diagnostic laboratory work within the Microbiology department.
Our Microbiology/Molecular department is comprised of 35+ Clinical Microbiologists, Scientists, and Technicians. We operate a variety of automated microbiology and molecular platforms, providing services that cover conventional and molecular microbiology. Our centralised laboratory in Tauranga
also supports three hospital STAT Microbiology laboratories.

From our centralised Tauranga laboratory, we support the diagnostic testing needs of patients across the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and Lakes regions.

About You
You will demonstrate knowledge, expertise, and skill in the delivery of scientific judgement within the various disciplines of the Microbiology department. Your ability to show initiative and work well with others will see you transition seamlessly into our team..
You will bring:
- Suitable qualification, either experienced or new graduate.
- Enthusiasm for continuous improvement.
- An understanding of quality systems and IANZ requirements.
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with other teams, with excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Registration (or registerable qualification) with the Medical Science Council of New Zealand and hold a current annual practicing certificate.
- A willingness to develop laboratory automation and IT skills.
- You will participate in a 7-day roster, including day, evening, night and weekend shifts, so flexibility is essential.
