Kaitono Pai | We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver a high‑quality annual coach education calendar across the Northern Region, including community coaching courses and development opportunities
  • Lead and support the delivery of NZ Football coach education frameworks, ensuring alignment with national standards and regional needs
  • Build, develop and sustain a strong, diverse workforce of Coach Educators (Coach Developers) across clubs, schools and communities
  • Design and deliver both formal and informal learning opportunities that support coaches at all levels of the game
  • Grow coaching capability and participation within under‑represented groups, including Girls & Women, Māori, Pasifika and Asian communities
  • Develop strong, trusted relationships with clubs, NZ Football, federations and education partners to support coach development outcomes
  • Use data, insight and best practice to continuously improve coach education quality and impact across the region

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role:

Our offices are based in Albany, however this position is mobile with flexible, remote working.

We are seeking a focused and enthusiastic team member who will:

  • This role leads coach education delivery across Northern Region Football, supporting coaches from community through to advanced pathways
  • You’ll drive a blended approach to coach development, combining qualifications, informal learning and evidence‑based practice
  • The role plays a key part in strengthening development environments and improving player experiences across football and futsal
  • You’ll work closely with the Head of Football Development and internal teams to ensure coach education supports wider player and pathway outcomes
  • The position is region‑wide, based at North Harbour Stadium, with flexibility to work in the community and during evenings or weekends as required

Ngā mātauranga me ngā wheako mō tenei tūranga | Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in sport development at all levels, with a particular focus on coach development.
  • Experience in effectively leading and implementing education programmes and development opportunities.
  • Certified to deliver ALL community courses within NZF’s coach education pathway
  • Recognised Coach Developer or Educator Qualification
  • Evidence of successfully and positively working with diverse stakeholders including regional sports bodies/clubs, coaches, parents, players, volunteers, etc.
  • Knowledge of sport development with a strong understanding of the NZ context
  • An understanding of the New Zealand Football National Curriculum, Whole of Football plan coaching frameworks and programs
  • A thorough knowledge of international trends and research in sport development

  • The legal right to work in New Zealand
  • Current Class 1 driving-license
  • OFC/NZF C Licence required
  • Understanding of NZF’s framework documentation – Whole of Football Plan and Junior Framework

He painga anō | Desirable

  • Experience within football clubs with an understanding of internal club operations.
  • Involvement in NZ Sport, Regional Sport Trust or other coach, educational or mentoring programs
  • OFC/NZF B licence
